In the video “How cognitive surplus will change the world” by TED, he states “Cognitive surplus” is the ability for the worlds population to be able to come together and work on a global issue. He also tells us it is made up of two things, worlds free time and talents. He says that the world had over a trillion hours a year to help a cause in the twenties. The second was helping people consume. Today people aren't consuming as much before because of technology. This relates to me because I think I can try to help a cause, if not a world one, a smaller one in my community. This relates to education because there is probably a lot of free time from school that kids can use to help the world. Overall, people have a lot of free time they can use to help the world.

I read an article about what seemed like an average an average towing job.  In the article “Car towed away with nine-month-old inside,” by Yesenia Robles of The Denver Post.  It’s pretty easy to tell what happened in this article.  A car blocking a business garage was removed and within a period of a half an hour, the parents notice someone very important was missing. Their Nine-month old daughter.  One of the employee’s of the towing company who refused to be named said, “We look in the car, but when there's a baby in a car seat covered in blankets you can't see it. And when the car's been sitting there for an hour, you don't assume there's a baby in the car,” He then calls it “child abuse” which I do not believe it is.  I believe it may be neglect because they are not paying attention to their kid, but no harm came to her.  This relates to me because it shows that I should be more observant to stuff that is important to me.  This can be tied back to education because if parents can forget something that important, kids definitely can.  As you can see, this was not an average towing job.

A man goes missing for more than a month.  I read an article called “Abandoned Jeep belongs to man last seen in October,” by the Denver Post.  An abandoned jeep found at a trail head leading into the Sangre Cristo Mountains was found.  A deputy with the Saguache County Sheriff’s office linked this vehicle back to a man living in Atlanta who has been missing since October.  The man “Abisha Mounce” was last in contact with his wife on October 21.  However, she did not report him missing until November 14.  He claimed that he was going for a hike but he didn’t tell her where he was going.  I think it is best if someone leaves, they should tell where they are going.  This relates to me because I often go places without people knowing where I go.  It can relate to school because sometimes kids just leave without letting people know.  Overall, it is a great idea to let people know where you are going before you leave.
